Experts on both sides of the strait discuss how textile technology can innovate functional fibers and functional textiles

On April 20th, at the 12th Cross-Strait Textile Science and Technology Seminar held at Qingdao University, 58 institutions from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Taiwan Fengjia University, Tainan University of Applied Sciences, Sichuan University, Qingdao University, Wuhan Textile University, etc. More than 160 experts and scholars have conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the major issues of how textile technology innovates functional fibers and functional textiles.

The Cross-Strait Textile Exchange Council was established in 2005 and covers many cross-strait industrial, academic and research institutions. The theme of this conference is “Functional Fibers and Functional Textiles”. It aims to summarize the achievements of the three sides of the Taiwan Strait in the textile field, discuss the new development direction of functional fibers and functional textiles, and promote the transformation of scientific and technological innovation and scientific research achievements in the textile field. Textile education, science and technology workers and the business community provide a platform for exploring new ideas, technologies and equipment for the development of textile technology.

Professor Sun Runjun from Xi'an Engineering University, Prof. Yao Mu, Associate Professor Chen Hongen from the Textile Industry Research Institute, Professor Sun Gang from the University of California, Davis, Professor Hu Jinlian from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Chairman Sun Guohua of Qingdao Tianyi Group Co., Ltd., Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Qingdao The University's Distinguished Academician and Professor Wang Yuzhong of Sichuan University respectively made a forum theme report, thinking and suggesting on textile comfort research, redefining the future of textile economy, Novel Biocidal Fabrics for Biological Protections, invention and modernization of silk, planning and construction. He gave a speech on "Qingdao Textile Town", textile flame retardant antibacterial double sparse multi-functional finishing research. During the seminar, an exchange of 38 reports from 3 sub-meetings was organized.

The 12th Cross-Strait Textile Science and Technology Seminar was hosted by the Cross-Strait Textile Technology Exchange Council, the Institute of Functional Textiles and Advanced Materials of Qingdao University, the Textile and Apparel College of Qingdao University, and the National Key Laboratory of Biopolysaccharide Fiber Forming and Eco-Textile.
