The Saparmyrat Turkmenbasy area in the Dashaguz district of Turkmenistan is one of the four main areas of cotton cultivation in the country. According to media reports in Central Asia, the new spinning mill will reach an annual output of 6,000 tons of cotton yarn after it is put into operation.
The textile industry is one of the key industries for Turkmenistan's economic growth. Turkmenistan’s President Berdymukhamedov said that “the large investment in the textile industry has stimulated the production of high-quality cotton, which has a huge demand among foreign consumers.â€
Turkmenistan grows more than 1 million tons of cotton a year and is the ninth largest cotton producer in the world. However, not all cotton is processed in Turkmenistan.
About 20 domestic textile companies in Turkmenistan, which are mainly Turkish partners, produce about 120,000 tons of cotton yarn, 178 million square meters of fabric, 11,000 tons of knitted fabrics and 7,200 tons of terry cloth.
